Caroline Schroback Design Co. ("Caroline Schroback Design Co.," "we," "us," or "our") wants everyone to be able to use www.carolineschroback.com (the "Site"), including people who use assistive technology. This statement describes how we approach accessibility on the Site, what we know still needs work, and how to reach us if something is in your way.

OUR STANDARD

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content easier to perceive, operate, and understand for people with a wide range of abilities. We also apply the same standard to the websites we design for clients.

WHAT WE DO

To support accessibility on the Site, we:

  • Write descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and mark decorative images so screen readers skip them;

  • Use a logical heading structure on every page so content can be navigated by heading;

  • Check color contrast between text and backgrounds against the WCAG AA minimums;

  • Keep text resizable and layouts responsive so pages work on phones, tablets, and zoomed desktop screens;

  • Make links, buttons, and form fields reachable and usable by keyboard, with visible focus states;

  • Label form fields and provide clear error messages;

  • Avoid content that flashes, auto-plays with sound, or moves without a way to stop it; and

  • Build on Squarespace, which maintains the underlying platform accessibility features, including skip links and ARIA landmarks.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS

Despite our efforts, some parts of the Site may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Some portfolio images show client websites and printed pieces. Their alternative text describes the project, but it cannot reproduce every word shown in the image.

  • Third-party content embedded in or linked from the Site, such as our proposal and invoicing platform, video meetings, and social media, is controlled by those providers and may not meet the same standard.

  • Downloadable PDFs, including our free checklist, are being reviewed for tagging and reading order. If you need one in another format, email us and we will send it.

We review the Site as we add new pages and content and fix issues as we find them.

If you have trouble using any part of the Site, or you need information in a different format, please email us at hello@carolineschroback.com and tell us the page and what happened. We respond within five business days, and we will work with you to provide what you need.

CHANGES TO THIS STATEMENT

We may update this Accessibility Statement from time to time as the Site and the guidelines change. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
